We are the Betancourt family: Gosia, Joshua, our two boys Joshua and Jakub, and Walter, our beloved pug Bronze Grand Champion show dog. After a successful show career, he's traded ribbons and trophies for lake sunsets, long naps, and life as Beaver Lake Escape's honorary host.
Our family story spans continents. Gosia was born and raised in Poland, while Joshua grew up in Tucson in a proud Mexican-American family. Together, we've built a life centered around travel, adventure, and creating meaningful experiences. Over the years, we've explored more than 65 countries, with recent adventures taking us through Norway, Iceland, and the Netherlands.
Our boys keep life exciting; Joshua is an elite national diver whose dedication and passion for the sport inspires us daily, while Jakub enjoys everything from golf, baseball, and soccer to chess, outdoor adventures, and even Fortnite.
Although we've traveled the world, we're always drawn back to places that offer something increasingly rare: peace, natural beauty, and the opportunity to reconnect. That's what inspired Beaver Lake Escape.

Some of our favorite memories are the simplest ones—watching the sunset, fishing from the shore, and spending quality time together on Beaver Lake. It’s these moments that inspired Beaver Lake Escape and what we hope you’ll experience during your stay.
Like many families, we spent years exploring the world and creating memories through travel. After visiting more than 65 countries, we never expected that the place that would capture our hearts would be a corner of Arkansas we had never even seen before.
Believe it or not, our story began from our couch. Through Dave and Jenny Marrs' HGTV show, Fixer to Fabulous, we discovered Northwest Arkansas and instantly fell in love with the area. We had never been to Arkansas before and didn't have family or friends here, but something about the beauty, charm, and sense of community drew us in. We decided to visit—and within one day, we knew we had found our future home.
Our wonderful realtor, Forrest Stoghill, spent the day showing us homes around Beaver Lake. During lunch, he figured we'd fly back to Denver, discuss our options, and let him know what we decided. Instead, we looked at him and said,
"We came here to buy a house. Please put in the offer. Here's our check."
Needless to say, he was stunned!
But we knew.
We had found our dream place.
Our hope is to one day retire here and create a family legacy that our children—and someday their children—can enjoy for generations to come. Beaver Lake Escape is much more than a vacation home to us—it's a place where future memories will be made and traditions will be passed down.
Until that day comes, we wanted to share this special place with other families. We believe some of life's greatest moments happen when we slow down, reconnect with nature, and spend meaningful time with the people we love.
Whether it's boating on Beaver Lake, fishing at sunrise, kayaking and paddleboarding on peaceful waters, enjoying coffee on the patio with lake views, spotting wildlife, exploring nearby trails, or simply watching the stars come out at night, this place has a way of helping you breathe a little deeper and appreciate the simple things.
Our family loves the lake life—the calm mornings, evenings on the patio overlooking the water, wildlife wandering by, and the wonderful neighbors who make this community feel so welcoming. Every detail inside Beaver Lake Escape has been thoughtfully chosen with one goal in mind: to create a place we would love to stay ourselves—and one that our guests will love too.
And who knows? Maybe one day we'll add a second story to our home, and perhaps Dave and Jenny Marrs will help bring that dream to life. After all, they're the reason we discovered this little piece of paradise.
