We are the Betancourt family Gosia, Joshua, our two boys, Joshua and Jakub, and Walter, our beloved pug Bronze Grand Champion show dog. After a successful show career, he's traded ribbons and trophies for lake sunsets, long naps, and life as Beaver Lake Escape's honorary host.
Our family story spans continents. Gosia was born and raised in Poland, while Joshua grew up in Tucson in a proud Mexican-American family. Together, we've built a life centered around travel, adventure, and creating meaningful experiences.
Over the years, we've explored more than 65 countries, with recent family adventures taking us through Norway, Iceland, and the Netherlands.
Our boys keep life exciting. Joshua is an elite national diver whose dedication and passion for the sport inspires us daily, while Jakub enjoys everything from golf, baseball, and soccer to chess, outdoor adventures, and even Fortnite.
Although we've traveled the world, we're always drawn back to places that offer something increasingly rare: peace, natural beauty, and the opportunity to reconnect. That's what inspired Beaver Lake Escape.

Some of our favorite memories are the simplest ones—watching the sunset, fishing from the shore, and spending quality time together on Beaver Lake. It’s these moments that inspired Beaver Lake Escape and what we hope you’ll experience during your stay.
It started with a single camping trip to Beaver Lake in the summer of 2018. Jake and Mara Collins, burned out from city life in Chicago, drove south on a whim. They pitched a tent, watched the sun set over the water, and something shifted.
Within a year, they had sold their apartment, quit their jobs, and purchased a small cabin on the lake. They renovated it with their own hands every beam, every stone fireplace, every carefully chosen piece of furniture.
When friends started asking to rent it, Beaver Lake Escape was born. Today, we offer six unique properties and a full menu of outdoor experiences all designed to give guests what we found that first summer: a genuine escape.
We believe that the best vacations aren't just about where you sleep they're about how you feel. The morning mist on the lake. The crackle of a fire under a sky full of stars. The quiet that only nature can give you.
